Job Description:

Summary of Duties: The Credit Analyst is responsible for conducting in-depth industry and financial analysis of existing and potential borrowers. This position also works cooperatively to support the Lending and Credit functions of the Bank.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Works closely with the Loan Officers to process requests for financing from inception including renewals and modifications of existing loans and new requests.
  2. Conducts thorough risk analysis of applications for commercial credit including loan stress testing.
  3. Provides written commercial loan analysis within a researched and documented package for review by officers, committee, or Board as appropriate.
  4. Utilizes a digital loan filing system to file, store, and manage information of all types. Helps maintain complete and orderly credit files on loan customers.
  5. Reviews loan requests for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to the commercial lending function and internal loan policy.
  6. Prepares reports for Management and the Board as assigned.
  7. Provides high level of quality service to our existing customer base.
  8. Assists other employees/departments/branches to promote teamwork and good communication.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Provide written financial statement analysis for credit presentations, file comments and annual reviews.
  2. Serve as analyst and provide support to lenders for commercial loan transactions.
  3. Review incoming financial statements on assigned loans or as requested. Construct financial statement spreads. Analyze year-end and interim financial statements, including performance ratios.
  4. Complete analysis of borrowing base certificates and forward results to lenders.
  5. Research industry specific information from outside sources.
  6. Perform collateral reviews and audits as requested.
  7. Assist the team in monitoring delinquencies, overdrafts, exceptions and covenants.
  8. Review and understand the Loan Policy and related lending policies and procedures to assure request adhere to guidelines.
  9. Obtain training in analyzing financial information, commercial lending, underwriting, regulations and software systems as appropriate.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business related degree.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 1-3 years of experience as a credit analyst preferred. Bank will consider entry level position for the right candidate
  • Foundation in accounting principles as they relate to banking.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements.
  • Developed PC skills including proficiency and capability in word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and other professionals.
  • Demonstrated analytical decision-making and problem solving skills.
